It’s no doubt that with the use of chickpea in many of our dishes and Gibraltar’s vibrant Jewish community and Middle Eastern cultural connections that Falafel can be found and enjoyed here.
- 220G Chickpeas (Soaked and Drained)
- 220G Lentils (Soaked and Drained)
- 3 Garlic Cloves
- 1/2 Onion
- 1 Egg
- 2 Tsp Chili Powder
- 1/4 Tsp Salt
- Fresh Coriander
- 1/2 Beetroot
1, In a food processor blend together the chickpeas, garlic, onions, chili powder, coriander, beetroot and salt until smooth. Transfer to a medium bowl and crack in the egg, combining all the ingredients into a thin paste.
2, Shape into 3 of 4 patties about the size of the palm of your hand using a spoon as you pour it into a hot pan.
3, Heat a large non-stick frying pan over medium, pour in a little olive oil and cook until crisp and warmed through. Serve in buns with the sauce of your choice and salad.
