Batter-dip Prawns



  • 500G Prawns
  • 1 Egg
  • 80 ml Water
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
  • 65 g Self Raising Flour
  • Oil

1. Shell the prawns, wash and devein them. Spear each one on a cocktail stick and set aside. In a bowl, beat the egg with the water and add the garlic salt and baking powder. Beat in the flour making a thick batter. Allow to set for 1 hour before using.

2. Dip the prawns, cocktail stick and all, into the batter and fry them until golden , then place them on a kitchen towel to drain the excess oil.

(I personally like to squeeze some lemon juice over them)
